The NESA Awards Committee invites nominations for each of our two annual awards:
The Apple Award recognizes quality teaching within the discipline of sociology.
Past recipients include: Dr. Jack Levin, Northeastern University (2009), Dr. Shirley Jackson, Southern Connecticut State University (2008) and Dr. Jodi Cohen, Bridgewater State College (2008)
The Sociologist of the Year Award recognizes contributions to the discipline either through academic scholarship or through outstanding service to the broader community of sociologists, beyond the recipient’s own academic department and institution.
Past recipients include: Jennifer Dobruck Lowe, Crittenton Women’s Union (2010), Dr. Melvin Manson, Endicott College (2009) and Dr. Yvonne Vissing, Salem State University (2008)
