CALL FOR PAPERS
INTERSECTIONS:
RACE, CLASS, AND GENDER

THE NEW ENGLAND SOCIOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION (NESA)
INVITES YOU TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE FALL 2006 CONFERENCE
AT KEENE STATE COLLEGE, KEENE, NH

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2006
Science Center,  9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Race, class, and gender have been at the heart of sociological theory and research for decades, yet we have much to learn from recent scholarship exploring the intersections of social inequalities.  How do dimensions of social difference shape lives?  How are oppressions socially constructed? What are the causes and consequences of social stratification?

For this conference we welcome proposals to enhance our collective understanding of the social categories of race, class and gender and how they operate simultaneously.  We invite scholars, community practitioners, and students representing the social sciences and interdisciplinary studies to participate.  The conference format will provide opportunities to discuss theory and research, creating space for learning and for future fruitful, collaborative work.

Proposals for papers, workshops, panels, roundtable discussions, and poster presentations may include local, national, comparative, or global perspectives.  Suggested areas include:  Ageism, Disabilities, Diversity, Education, Environmental Racism, Families, Feminism, Health, Immigration, Language, Law and Policy, Poverty, Institutional Discrimination, Identity, Beliefs and Attitudes, Sexuality, Social Change, Work and Occupations.
To submit proposals and abstracts:
